A Brief History of MBA programs

With an MBA from Louisiana State University, Kirk Fisher has worked in both business and academic fields. Kirk Fisher serves as an executive in residence and instructor at Louisiana State University. As part of his duties, he instructs MBA students to approach complex business decisions through regression analysis, market segmentation, data analytics, and financial modeling.

In the early 1900s, the United States underwent a series of industrialization and wanted academic institutions to produce graduates who understood how business functions. Masters of Business Administration, popularly known as MBA, started as a response to this demand. The MBA program was first introduced at Harvard School of Administration in 1908, now known as Harvard Business School.

The first curriculum was based on the research of Frederick Winslow Taylor, who made efforts to improve industrial efficiency through a new discipline called management science. This discipline involved the coordination of all factors needed in production. Over the years, the demand grew, and the program moved away from management science to other areas like sports management, entrepreneurship, the entertainment business, and healthcare management.

Today, the program is one of the top finance programs globally, granting holders of the degree various opportunities.
